Guilty

Should I feel bad for having ‘stuff’?  Often we drift between feeling prideful over our stuff and feeling guilty for the same reasons.  Christ called us to follow him, and for some, even to sell all that they had.  But, like all other choices we make in life, they need to come out of the grace that has been given us, and not done only because they are commanded.  If we are obeying for the sake of obeying, isn’t that legalism?  As if there were salvific value to our obedience.  Christ’s love to us must have so tight a grasp on our hearts that we can’t not give of ourselves.  Guilty?  Perhaps, but not necessarily righteously.  Maybe just shortchanging ourselves of the opportunity to fully experience joy.
